Mr Stomach Bug

Why are you visiting? You are so unwelcome at my house and I wish you would go away, oh Mr. Stomach Bug...hell, I wish you never came and made my daughter feel sick. I would have taken you full on and you could have had more fun with me if you had just left her alone. You are a pain in my behind. Last night was awful and I hope that I have beaten you today. I have plans and things to do and you are preventing me from carrying out those plans.

- I want to play with my daughter today, yet she is at daycare b/c I don't have the strength or energy to chase her around.
- I wanted to play with my horse today too b/c she has had 2 weeks off and I got the Clinton Anderson Fundamentals that I am so anxiously awaiting to apply the method towards her.
- I wanted to spend most of the day with my husband, however he did have to go in to give 2 enlisted guys test. But that's besides the point! He will be home around lunchtime.
- I wanted to clean up my bedroom and do laundry b/c my awesome hubby picked up the entire house while I was at work.
- AH! I had to leave work yesterday, early no doubt, b/c you were making me feel all crappy.

Yes, YOU Mr. Stomach Bug need to leave...NOW!

So guess what, I took a shower this morning to wash you away and I am starting to feel better and am actually hungry. I think I may have beaten you. What do you have to say about that Mr. Stomach Bug? Not so high and mighty now are ya?!

HA!

A Tornado Came Through for the Holidays

Through my house that is. It is a HUGE disaster. And will probably be like that for the rest of the week. Matt and I are trying to settle back in. We drove in Sunday night from Lubbock. Bayleigh was wonderful and so were the dogs. Slept the whole way. I think she knew we were headed home to. She had so much fun up there. But I will blog more about that later.

I haven't forgotten about you all who follow me. I have just been trying to catch up from the holidays. I have loads and loads of cute pictures of Miss B. I finally got them loaded on to my computer yesterday. They had this ADORABLE store at the mall in Lubbock that has inspired me to make Miss B some cute clothes. Can't wait to get started on that. And Jamie and I, one day, plan on opening our own jewelry making business. She does the more vintage jewelry while me, on the other hand, LOVES that big chunky western jewelry. So someday we are going to combine our businesses. :)

I haven't forgotten about sending our Christmas cards, well New Year's now. Just have to run to Wal-Mart and get them printed. I wanted to wait until I had some of Miss B on Christmas. So expect those next week.

Miss B and I are sick, well sort of. She threw up yesterday for the very first time ever on the way out to the barn. Needless to say, I turned right around and went home. Called Sylia to feed Koda for me. She was blah after we got back and cleaned up. She laid with me in bed last night and actually fell asleep next to me. It was one of those priceless moments that I will always remember. I just stared and marveled at her. She had her hand in her blanket and on my face. Precious moment. However, it didn't last too long. About an hour later she woke up so I put her in her crib and she went back to sleep. I went to bed also. I was having really bad acid reflux ALL through the night. I didn't get hardly any sleep b/c my stomach was just off and I was constantly burping. UGH. Plus I can't sleep on my stomach anymore so that doesn't help. And to top it off, my kidneys were hurting, which concerned me, but they are fine now so who knows. Bayleigh has been better today. She woke up around 730 this morning, but she's still tired. Luckily Daddy got home at 8 after his duty so he will be able to take care of her. She has her toys spread all over the house. It's funny...hence the title. So everywhere she goes she's got something to play with. Haha. I'm sure we'll be finding Lego's all over the place.

Well, I haven't eaten anything yet I feel full and bloated. UGH. I am at work and it's rainy and so SLOW today. I guess I will go for now. Starting to feel like poo again. I will update later with pictures and how our trip went.

Friendship

Lately it has been hard as I have been really missing my old friends and now with being a mother and almost a mother of 2, friendships can be hard to make and keep when living the military life.

So this is a letter my friend, Kelly, sent me today and it really lifted me up and made me feel really appreciated and missed. I miss her a bunch and just wanted to share with you guys a little about our friendship. She and I have been through thick and thin together. She was there for me through my WORST times and through some of my best times. We don't stay in touch, well on the phone that is, but we are constantly checking on each other through Facebook. I miss her a bunch. :(

I searched for the perfect quote for us, but nothing said everything I wanted it to because let's face it neither one of us are 'normal' and therefore there's no way our friendship would be either. haha

I just basically want to say our lives are completely different, but our hearts are in the right places. We both love unconditionally and would give anything for our loved ones. You will always be my best friend even though we may not act the same way. I may never grow up, but maybe that's just who I am.. maybe this is me grown up. What I want differs from day to day and that may always be the case. So, where ever my journey takes me; know that you're always in my heart.. a li'l piece of you and the mark you've made in my heart is racking up frequent flyer miles right there with me. If you ever need anything I am always a phone call away and could probably beat anyone there (I mean except for the next door neighbor, c'mon). I think we all have to go our separate ways to find ourselves and to become the people we end up as.. let's just say my way is a bit farther than most. I love your life and I love that you're happy.. I know sometimes you get stressed and overwhelmed and want to run and scream, but just know that I think you are way more bad ass now than you ever were. You have so much on your plate, and I want you to know I'm so proud of how far you've come and I have nothing but love and admiration for you. I know sometimes people think I'm so lost and running wild, but I'm afraid if I stop I'll begin to wilt ... I know everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I just hope, and I'm sure that you of all people know, that I have what makes me a great friend.. I will always be there and always hold your hand.. and it's always nice to have someone in your corner that has enough frequent flyer miles to fly any where to kick the butt of who has pissed you off! =) haha Kat, you mean the world to me.. I hope that we remain friends forever. I appreciate every fight we've ever had because it showed we cared enough to get over it and still love each other the same if not more. I love that we can go forever and not talk and then pick up right where we left off. There's no awkward bs.. and NEVER SILENCE between us, never forced heart felt laughter. I love you and your family more than you can imagine regardless of the distance (in miles and emotions). We both get wrapped up in our own lives but I thought it'd be good for you to know that regardless -- you're in my thoughts almost everyday ..and no, not just because of facebook!! I love you girl!! Happy Holidays!! Let's make an effort to see each other soon -- yes, preggo, I will even come to you haha!!

Holiday Decor

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

I'm Dieing From a Malignant Mole!!!!

I may not live to see my kids get through high school, college, even get married!!!

Haha. Ok that's dramatic and pretty extreme. I'm not like that at all nor do I want attention like that. However, I have noticed a mole on my upper right thigh, basically right below my butt. It has a twin...yes on the left leg as well. I call them Merlene and Sherlene b/c those are the two COOLEST twin names I have ever heard. :) Anyway, both of these moles appeared while I was pregnant with B. I didn't pay much attention to them as I have moles elsewhere. Lately, this particular mole has been getting bigger and has been itching. I thought maybe it was dry skin, but last night it was itching pretty bad so I did some research b/c I just had a feeling that this wasn't normal. I found out that if they are itching, getting bigger and look abnormal they could possibly be malignant. YIKES! I will make an appointment after the holidays. We are leaving next weekend for Christmas for a week so I probably won't get much figured out this week with it. This week is going to fly by so fast. I just figured I'd let y'all know in case there is actually something there to be worried about in the future. Here is some info I found this morning about it, since I just kind of glanced around last night before bed.

What Is Melanoma?

Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer. If it is recognized and treated early, it is almost always curable, but if it is not, the cancer can advance and spread to other parts of the body, where it becomes hard to treat and can be fatal. While it is not the most common of the skin cancers, it causes the most deaths. The American Cancer Society estimates that at present, about 120,000 new cases of melanoma in the US are diagnosed in a year. In 2010, about 68,130 of these were invasive melanomas, with about 38,870 in males and 29, 260 in women.
Melanoma originates in melanocytes, the cells which produce the pigment melanin that colors our skin, hair, and eyes. The majority of melanomas are black or brown, but often they can also be skin-colored, pink, red, purple, blue or white.

Am I at Risk?

Everyone is at some risk for melanoma, but increased risk depends on several factors: sun exposure, number of moles on the skin, skin type and family history (genetics).

  • Sun exposure
Both UVA and UVB rays are dangerous to the skin, and can induce skin cancer, including melanoma. Blistering sunburns in early childhood increase risk, but cumulative exposure also may be a factor. People who live in locations that have more sunlight — like Florida, Hawaii, and Australia — develop more skin cancers. Avoid using a tanning booth or tanning bed, since it increases your exposure to UV rays, raising your risk of developing melanoma and other skin cancers.
  • Moles
There are two kinds of moles: normal moles — the small brown blemishes, growths, or "beauty marks" that appear in the first few decades of life in almost everyone — and atypical moles, also known as dysplastic nevi. Atypical moles can be precursors to melanoma, and having them puts you at increased risk of melanoma. But regardless of type, the more moles you have, the greater your risk for melanoma.
  • Skin Type
As with all skin cancers, people with fairer skin (who often have lighter hair and eye color as well) are at increased risk.  Do you know your skin type?  Click here to take our Skin Type Quiz.
  • Family History
Heredity plays a major role in melanoma. About one in every 10 patients diagnosed with the disease has a family member with a history of melanoma. If your mother, father, siblings or children have had a melanoma, you are in a melanoma-prone family. Each person with a first-degree relative diagnosed with melanoma has a 50 percent greater chance of developing the disease than people who do not have a family history. If the cancer occurred in a grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew (second-degree relatives), there is still an increase in risk, although not as great.
If melanoma is present in your family, you can protect yourself and your children by being particularly vigilant in watching for the early warning signs and finding the cancer when it is easiest to treat.
  • Personal History
Once you have had melanoma, you run an increased chance of recurrence. People who have or had basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma are also at increased risk for developing melanoma.

    Moles in an Active Stage
Moles in people belonging to melanoma-prone families are subject to change at certain times of life. They may get larger or show alterations in color or elevation, so for those periods, they are described as being active. While the reasons for these changes are not fully known, there could be a hormonal component: Moles are more active at puberty and during pregnancy. Many — but not all — physicians advise high-risk individuals not to take hormonal medications, such as oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy.

Just call me "Wanda Smith" for the Holidays

(That's my Grandma) Man, Tuesday I was all over making food. While visiting my grandparents, I wrote down my grandmother's recipes for Chocolate pie and Brunswick stew.. :) Tuesday morning I got up and cleaned my house...FINALLY...and baked TWO chocolate pies and got the meat cooked and ground up for that evening to make Brunswick stew. This isn't your normal "beef" type stew. It's so good. Anyway, later after I got all this finished Miss B and I went to Toys R Us for her Christmas presents from my mom (MiMi). She gave us money so that I could get her a nice kitchen set, plus I had money leftover to get a shopping cart. I remember when I had one of those and I had a ball with it, so I know Miss B will love it. We also stopped by Michael's, yes for more decorations...I am a sucker, I know. But Miss B was just center of attention with people. Being silly and smiling and getting compliments. She just loves people. Of course, she was trying to help mommy shop by pulling random decor from the shelves...it was a little annoying at times when mommy was trying to look for stuff, but then again it was funny. She would pull it off and show it to me and it almost sounded like she was saying, "This?" but coming out like "Deeii." LOL Here are some shots of my stew and the ever delicious chocolate pie. :)

Since the house is clean, I have been trying to keep it that way. I have still yet to take pictures of my all of my decor, but I will have the pictures up by this weekend. I am just so proud of my house at how festive it is. I even got Miss B a tree for her room. It's so cute and pink! Well not the actual tree b/c I couldn't find a cheap one, but the decorations are pink. :) It's sitting on top of her toy box, tied, so she can't pull it down. I new it would be a disaster waiting to happen so I had to come up with strapping it down. Here are some pictures of my kitchen table decor and the outside.

 My wine glasses

My cup of Joe in the morning in my Christmas mug :)

Decorated the wreath and tree myself...
Our lonely little deer got into too much eggnog ;)

I think the bows are so cute

Matt was off on Monday since he had Saturday duty, which he has again this weekend. UGH. I took a few pictures of Miss B playing on her slide. She loves it! Little daredevil. She is just so confident.

 Watch this!

You watching mom? Just making sure you got your camera ready for this.

 Ready.....Get Set.....
 Weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

This is when she gets really excited! I love this face. It's too funny

And her excited dance. I'll have to get a video of this. A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.
 This one's for you Drake:)

She loves Ace. She finds it hysterical when he twitches his ears. That's why she's messing with them. She was laughing so hard. He's such a good boy.

Last Sunday we spent the day at the barn, which it was pretty cool outside, but we thought it would be good for Miss B. However, she might be getting a little cold so I am just going to keep giving her water and OJ and medicine when needed and letting her fight it off herself. Hopefully. I don't want her to be sick when we travel so if she hasn't kicked it by middle of next week then "Hello Doctor Q! We're back." But while at the barn, I rode Koda. Rode her Saturday as well. It felt so good to be back in the saddle and she did really well too. I worked her last night as well. She's such a good horse and really tries to figure out what you want her to do.

Well, I am off to eat some stew for lunch. I made my mom's Peanut Butter balls last night. I will have pictures of those later. They are really easy to make and sooooooo good. Better than Reese's. I really do enjoy cooking. I'm going to try to start doing it more and making more different things to eat and getting stuff prepared to eat the night before. It will give me more time to get out to the barn and possibly give Koda more workouts.
